Hair Restoration

HAIR RESTORATION -  the crowning glory

Growth Cycle
Hair loss can be a hereditary condition experienced by both men and women. Although you cannot change your genetic make-up, you can take steps to fight against it.

In order to fight hair loss, we need to first understand what causes it. Our scalp contains thousands of hair follicles. At any time about 20% of these are asleep or dormant. When these inactive/ dormant follicles start working again, they push out the old hair whilst producing another one. This is called the hair growth cycle. If this process slows and the hairs cannot replace themselves then the resulting appearance is of thinning hair. Treating hair loss at the onset will give you the best chance of retaining hair.

Although the hair loss can be hereditary, there are other factors which can affect hair growth. Diet and nutrition, stress, trauma, environmental pollutants and some prescribed medication all have an effect. There are also medical conditions that can cause hair loss and it is important that these causes are excluded and treated.

At Temple Aesthetics Aberdeen, we have clinically proven products, provide by LA Science, that not only produce healthier- looking hair but also help to extend the growth phase of the hair cycle. The result is visibly healthier- looking hair and improved scalp condition.

Follicle Stimulating Shampoo

This preparation contains an active peptide combination that nurtures and adds manageability to thinning hair. The active ingredients Biotin and Arginine create a healthy environment for the maintenance and condition of the hair follicle. Other factors help to build “flexible strength” to the hair shaft and condition the hair. Gently massaging the shampoo increases the blood supply to the scalp and facilitates the action of the special ingredients.

  • Increase Hair Growth Rate
  • Improve Blood Supply to the Scalp to Nourish the Hair Follicle

Hair Loss Serum

This intensive treatment helps extend the growth phase of the hair for a thicker looking head of hair.. Massaging the serum into the scalp stimulates the blood circulation to the scalp and optimises new hair growth. As well as peptides, the active ingredients include Portulaca Oleracea and Polygala Tenuiflora Root extracts which are renowned for their ability to balance hair and scalp deficiencies. The hyaluronic acid, being a powerful moisturiser, conditions the hair shaft. The result is stronger healthier-looking hair that looks and feel thicker.

For the best results, the Anti-Hair Loss Serum is used in conjunction with the Follicle stimulating Shampoo.

View Frequently Asked Questions

What is the normal cycle of hair growth and loss?

The normal cycle of hair growth lasts for 2 to 3 years. Each hair grows approximately 1 centimeter per month during this phase. About 90 percent of the hair on your scalp is growing at any one time. Up to 20%  of the hair on your scalp, at any one time, is in a resting phase. After 3 to 4 months, the resting hair falls out and new hair starts to grow in its place.

It is normal to shed some hair each day as part of this cycle. However, some people may experience excessive (more than normal) hair loss. Hair loss of this type can affect men, women and children.

What causes excessive hair loss?

A number of things can cause excessive hair loss. For example, about 3 or 4 months after an illness or a major surgery, you may suddenly lose a large amount of hair. This hair loss is related to the stress of the illness and is temporary.

Hormonal problems may cause hair loss. If your thyroid gland is overactive or underactive, your hair may fall out. This hair loss usually can be helped by treatment of the thyroid disease. Hair loss may occur if male or female hormones, known as androgens and estrogens, are out of balance. Correcting the hormone imbalance may stop your hair loss. The most common trigger for hereditary hair loss in males  is the hormone Dihydrotestosterone. This causes the hair follicle to shrink.

Many women notice hair loss about 3 months after they've had a baby. This loss is also related to hormones. During pregnancy, high levels of certain hormones cause the body to keep hair that would normally fall out and so it appears healthier and thicker.. When the hormones return to pre-pregnancy levels, that hair falls out and the normal cycle of growth and loss starts again.

Some medicines can cause hair loss. This type of hair loss improves when you stop taking the medicine. Medicines that can cause hair loss include blood thinners (also called anticoagulants), medicines used for gout, high blood pressure or heart problems, vitamin A (if too much is taken), birth control pills and antidepressants. Chemotherapy is well known for causing dramatic hair loss.

Certain infections can cause hair loss. Fungal infections of the scalp can cause hair loss in children. The infection is easily treated with antifungal medicines.

Auto-immune disease where the body starts reacting against itself can cause baldness in one area (alopecia areata) or when severe can affect the whole head/ body (alopecia totalis)

There is a psychological condition called Trichotillomania.  The loss of hair is caused by a person compulsively  pulling and twisting their hair

Finally, hair loss may occur as part of an underlying disease, such as iron deficiency anaemia, lupus or diabetes. Since hair loss may be an early sign of a disease, it is important to find the cause so that it can be treated.

Is there a difference between male and female hair loss?

Male Pattern Hair Loss (MPHL) can follow a number of different patterns, but is usually characterised by hair initially thinning from the sides and front of the forehead (receding hairline) followed by a bald patch at the crown of the head (vertex). Gradually, the bald area increases in size and eventually many men are left with a narrow horseshoe-shaped band of hair around the back and sides of the head. Most pattern baldness is genetic and whilst there is some research demonstrating both parents contribute to hereditary hair loss, a man has a greater chance of experiencing the same pattern baldness as his father...

Female Pattern Hair Loss

Female Pattern Hair Loss differs to the male pattern in that women usually experience a general thinning of the hair with the predominant hair loss occurring over the top of the head.

Female Pattern Hair Loss is characterised by an increased production of testosterone, unlike Male Pattern Hair Loss which is caused by DHT: Dihydrotestosterone.

Recent research suggests that up to 60% of post menopausal women suffer some degree of hair loss and approximately 13% of pre menopausal women. This hair loss is usually attributed to hormonal changes; however, hereditary hair loss is still the major cause of thinning hair in both men and women.

What are the common myths about hair loss?

  • Hair loss is caused by over washing your hair – sounds like an excuse to us!
  • Hair loss is caused by too much brushing - you’d have to pull very hard… Ouch!
  • Hair dyes and perms can cause permanent hair loss – perhaps they did 50 years ago!
  • Wearing hats and wigs will make your hair thinner – an old wives tale for sure…
  • Shaving your hair will make your hair grow back thicker – sadly not true…
  • Intellectual activity or the ‘more brainy’ you are, the more likely you are to lose your hair – not true, but studies demonstrate you might actually have a bigger head!
  • Bald men are more virile – sorry, sexual activity is multifactoral!
  • Emotional stress can cause baldness – in some studies this has been proven to be true, but only in genetically susceptible people.
  • You inherit baldness from your mother’s father – not strictly true; however research has shown that a male with a balding father is significantly more susceptible to hair loss.
  • Stress due to sleep deprivation can affect testosterone levels, but is not generally thought to cause hair loss.

Can certain hairstyles or treatments cause hair loss?

Yes. If you wear pigtails or cornrows or use tight hair rollers, the pull on your hair can cause a type of hair loss called traction alopecia (say: al-oh-pee-sha). If the pulling is stopped before scarring of the scalp develops, your hair will grow back normally. However, scarring can cause permanent hair loss. Hot oil hair treatments or chemicals used in permanents (also called "perms") may cause inflammation (swelling) of the hair follicle, which can result in scarring and hair loss.

What causes eyebrow and/or eyelash loss in men and women?
*Physical trauma, e.g., accident, thermal, chemical or electrical burns.
*Systemic or local disease that causes loss of eyebrow and/or eyelashes
*Congenital inability to grow eyebrows and/or eyelashes
*Plucking (to reshape the eyebrow) that results in permanent loss of eyebrows.
*Self-inflicted obsessive plucking or eyebrows and/or eyelashes (trichotillomania).
*Medical or surgical treatments that result in eyebrow or eyelash loss—e.g., radiation therapy, chemotherapy, surgical removal of tumor.
* Possible signs of alopecia areata for some individuals.

How do the active ingredients work?

Active Ingredients Delivered Directly into the Hair Follicle

LA Science combines clinically proven, revolutionary ingredients in a patented nano-liposphere technology to deliver powerful ‘growth-factor-mimicking’ peptides directly into the hair follicle to significantly renew hair growth and restore healthy, conditioned hair:

Copper Tripeptide Complex

  • Increases the blood vessel network to the hair follicle
  • Increases the size of the follicle to encourage thicker hair growth

Oligopeptide-16

  • Fortifies and stimulates the hair follicle to produce resilient, healthy hair
  • Encourages growth by activating hair follicle stem cells
  • Increases cellular energy in the hair root
  • Improves blood-circulation in the scalp to nourish skin cells

Oligopeptide-5

  • Strengthens the weakened hair shaft, caused by pattern baldness
  • Stimulates the hair follicle

Oligopeptide-18

  • Promotes renewed hair growth
  • Inhibits de-pigmentation to minimise grey hair
  • Activates blood circulation in the scalp
  • Revitalises the hair follicle

Restorative Ingredients Optimise Hair Growth and Enhance Condition

Key replenishing ingredients create the optimal environment to enhance hair growth:

  • Hyaluronic acid is a powerfully hydrating molecule capable of carrying up to 1000 times its weight in water, which saturates the hair follicle with vital moisture
  • Biotin (Vitamin B7) nourishes the hair shaft to give strength and flexibility
  • Keratin fortifies the hair shaft
  • Silk extract smoothes and conditions the hair
  •  Glycerin acts as a gentle moisturiser to ensure silky, glossy hair

*Clinical trials in skin organ culture demonstrated that growth factor stimulating peptides may act as a stimulator of hair placode formation, at least in part by antagonising the inhibitory effect of hair follicle development.

In vitro clinical trials demonstrated growth-factor-peptide treated skin displayed significant emerging new hair through the epidermis, compared to the control untreated skin culture, which exhibited an absence of hair growth.

Testimonials for LA Science Anti- Hair loss Products

I have been using the LA Science anti Hair-Loss products now for 4 months. My hair is definitely thicker around the crown, where I was rapidly thinning.
I am hoping that I can delay the family trait of balding Before 50yrs. Will update you in three months.

Tom R, Age 44, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, UK

I just had to write to tell you that  whilst I have only been using the Anti Hair loss shampoo and serum for barely one month, I can already detect a difference.  Not only has the condition of my hair improved, there now seems to be more off it than there was before I started the treatment.  Actually the shampoo would be a joy to use on its own as it has a lovely texture and after use my hair feels alive and has a good feel to it.

Nigel B, Age 48, Swindon, UK

About 6 months ago I discovered that parts of my hair was thinning. As you can imagine I was completely devastated as I thought only men experienced thinning hair in their 30’s. I have been told that stress could have played a major factor and I now believe this was the case as I was going through a very messy divorce about a year ago. These products I stumbled upon by chance but I have to say they have put a smile back on my face and I feel more confident. I am thrilled that my hair appears much thicker, shinier and glossier and hair has started to grow back in the thinning areas. The shampoo feels lovely and smells divine. I will continue with these products as my hair looks and feels visibly healthier. Thank you for such  good value products. Rating: Excellent.

Jean F, Age 38, Belfast, UK

I have been using this product for about 3 months now and it does what it says on the tin. It is not a miracle cure for baldness but it does stop your hair thinning and stops hair loss! I felt my hair was in much better condition and I can see new hair beginning to grow. I will definitely continue.

Ian H, Age 27, Leeds, UK

I’ve been slowly thinning on top for the last few years and had tried various products that claimed to help with hair loss but without any noticeable effects, since trying LA science I can feel that my hair is both thicker and stronger , I’m very happy with the results so far and will be continuing using these products.

Ray F, Age 32, London, UK

Thanks to these products I don’t feel so self conscious, I noticed my hair thinning and as you can imagine I was devastated being a woman you don’t expect that to happen. I had had a traumatic time as my house had been hit by the floods, I had scanned the internet for information and came across this brilliant site.
It didn’t take long for me to notice a difference, I love the smell and the way it make my hair feel.

Fran E, Age 40, Bristol, UK
